No Court can Stop EFCC from Investigating any Politician, Federal High Court Declares

There is no court in Nigeria that would allow itself to be used to shield any politician from being investigated by the investigative institutions like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja said this Friday in her judgement in a case filed by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el –Rufai where he sought, among other reliefs that the court should order EFCC to halt its investigations on his alleged role in the mishandling of N32bn proceeds of sale of federal government’s houses in Abuja between May 2005 and 2007 when he was minister of the federal capital territory. The court however granted his prayers to hold that he had properly accounted for the money.
