Court Orders Arrest of Allison Madueke, Sentences 2 INEC Staff to Jail

A high court sitting in Yola, Adamawa state presided by Justice Nathan Musa has sentenced two INEC staff to seven years imprisonment each over N362 million they were said to have collected from a former minister of petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison Madueke to compromise the 2015 presidential election in the state.

The economic and financial crimes commission (EFCC), brought the case against Ibrahim Mohammed Umar, Sahabo Iya Hamman, both staff of independent national electoral commission (INEC) as well as the former minister of petroleum for conspiring to defraud the federal government with the intent to compromise the 2015 general election.

The court asked the inspector general of police to work with Interpol to arrest and produce Mrs Allison Madueke so that she can face prosecution over her role in the fraudulent transaction.
