Air Peace Passenger Bags Prison Term for Smoking on Board

Air Peace said on Wednesday that a passenger on board its flight has been sentenced to two weeks imprisonment for smoking onboard last.

A statement by the airline spokesperson, Stanley Olisa, revealed that the court also gave the convict the option of N200, 000 fine for smoking, an offence he explained negated international convention. 

The statement also said that the convicted passenger committed the act on its Sharjah, United Arab Emirates flight.

Mr Olisa said the passenger was convicted on Tuesday, six days after he committed the offence by the Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos.

According to Olisa, the passenger was caught by one if its crew members, Adewale Oyebade, who received commendation for his safety consciousness.

The airline therefore warned passengers to comply with all established flight safety standards, because are meant for the general well-being of all.
