Personnel of the Nigeria police engaged their Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) counterparts in a tussle over a truck conveying alcoholic products to parts of Kano state, North West, Nigeria.
The driver of the truck, simply identified as Bila, was flagged by KAROTA officials who were on routine patrol, but he refused to stop and sped off.
According to independent sources, the driver secured the services of police escort that shielded the truck from arrest.
Judicialsketch.com reports that the truck ran on neck breaking speed and was piloted to assumed safety somewhere in Sabon Gari, Kano.
The public relations officer of KAROTA, Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Nai’isa confirmed the incidence and said that the truck and its content were eventually impounded.
According to him in a press release he issued today (Sunday), KAROTA personnel tracked the truck to Sabon Gari area of the city where it was accosted along with the conductor that accompanied the truck.
He alleged that the driver of the truck had absconded and is still at large.
Kofar Na’isa revealed that the truck has been handed over to HISBAH headquarters for further investigations.
