1, 400 members of staff on the payroll of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have been accused of allegedly violating labour laws, and risk been fired, the agency said.
The Managing Director, KAROTA, Baffa Babba Danagundi disclosed that the suspected violators are employees of the agency who have long absconded from their duty posts, though were still on the payroll of the agency.
Dan Agundi made the disclosure in his office, when he was paid a familiarization visit by the state commissioner for housing and transport, Musa Abdullahi Lawan .
He said investigations he conducted revealed that the violators, despite their failure to uphold public trust, are still getting full entitlements without rendering any service to the state.
Baffa lamented that only 1,000 out of the 2,400 members of staff are active.
He warned that the 1,400 violators/absentee staff face the risk of getting sacked.
