The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Supreme Court for “unlawful” exclusion from the November 16, 2019 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.
The National chairman of the party, Alhaji Ganiyu Galadima, told newsmen Thursday in Abuja that despite fulfilling all election guidelines stipulated by INEC his party was still excluded. He said the party fully complied with the election timetable issued by INEC by conducting its governorship primaries in Lokoja and Yenagoa respectfully on September 5, 2019 in the presence of the representatives of the commission.
He therefore concluded that the exclusion of his party was unlawful, having met all requirements. The party lost its case at the federal high court and the court of appeal, leaving it with the last hope of securing favourable judgement at the apex court.
