Kabiru Muhmmad, 32, who was on Tuesday arraigned before a Kano magistrate’s court sitting in Nomans-land over the alleged spread of fake marriage information against Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, is still in detention, despite a court bail order, judicialsketch.com can reveal.
The DSS, through Barrister I. B. Bulus, had dragged the businessman to court on a two count charge related to the widely spread rumor alleging that president Buhari was going to get married to Nigeria’s minister of finance, Sadiya Umar Farouk.
The defendant denied the allegations filed against him before the court, and further, through his counsel, Barrister Moses Edema prayed the court to admit him into bail.
In his ruling, Magistrate Aminu Gabari ordered that the defendant be released on bail in the sum of N1million, and further ordered the defendant to produce two reliable sureties, one of whom must be the chairman or secretary of Singer Market Association. The other surety must be a civil servant in grade level 14.
When judicialsketch.com visited Nomans-Land court complex, the defendant was yet to fulfill the bail conditions.
Quizzed by our reporter, on why he failed to comply with the bail terms, the defendant who was surrounded by his relatives decline to comment.
But one of the relatives said “he is already on bail, we are working to see how we can meet the bail conditions.”
At about 5:07pm local time, the defendant was ferried out of the court complex by security operatives. He told judicialsketch.com that “I did not meet the bail conditions. They are taking me to Nomans-Land police station, where I will spend the night.”
