The Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Nura Sagir has appealed to the governor of the state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to improve the quarterly overhead costs allocated to the judiciary in the state.
He made the appeal during the inauguration ceremony of the Kano State Division of the Appeal Court which took place recently in the state.
In his address of welcome at the occasion, Justice Nura explained that a memo presenting the request has since been sent to the office of the governor while expressing optimism that the governor would attend to the request as soon as possible.
He, however, observed that Governor Ganduje has been very supportive of the judiciary in the state while highlighting his support for the autonomy of the judiciary arm of government as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.
He also appreciated the governor for giving the judiciary a pride of place in his administration while pledging that the judiciary, under his watch, would be proactive and efficient in the administration of justice in the state, even as he promised to ensure a cordial relationship among three arms of government in the state.
The Chief Justice also appreciated the support of the two branches of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Kano and Ungogo while imploring them to further solidify their partnership with the Bench.
