An FCT High Court on Thursday dismissed a request made to it by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, seeking to join NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick and the federation’s Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi in a case of alleged financial fraud.
The court presided by Justice Peter O. Affen, decline for an amendment sought by the EFCC to permit the prosecution to include Pinnick and Sanusi as defendants.
EFCC had arrainged three members of staff of the NFF bordering on charges of alleged misappropriation of $8.4million grant received from world football-governing body, FIFA, in 2018.
The prosecution and the defendants through their counsel made submissions to the court, and Justice Affen in his ruling ordered EFCC to proceed with the prosecution of the trio initially docked before the court.
The court held that the duo of Pinnick and Sanusi have been discharged and acquitted on similar charges by a court of equal jurisdiction.
