Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup Qualifier Match Postponed as Guinea Holds Lawmakers Elections

FIFA, Women's World Cup qualifier, Nigeria, NFF, FGF

The Federation Guinean de Football (FGF) has appealed to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to reschedule the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, first leg qualifier involving both nations.

The Guineans prayed NFF to postpone the match, earlier scheduled for this weekend by one week.

The request for postponement was due to the coming legislative election, which would hold in the country on Saturday’s 29th February, which coincides with the date fixed for the game.

NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire, on Tuesday in a statement made available to Judicial Sketch  said  “The NFF has sent a letter of no objection, and though the FGF has fixed a new date of Saturday, 7th March for the encounter and the NFF has accepted (meaning there would be only one week in-between the first leg and the return slated for the Agege Stadium, Lagos), the Confederation of African Football still has to give a stamp of approval, as a formality.”
