The Supreme Court of Nigeria a moment ago adjourned the hearing of Emeka Ihedioha and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) application for judgement review in the state governorship petition to Tuesday, March 3 2020.
Applicants’ lawyer, Kanu Agabi, SAN, sought adjournment on the ground that Governor Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressive Congress (APC), who are the respondents, just served them some documents in the courtroom just before the commencement of proceedings, saying he needs time to respond to the documents, and suggesting another hearing for Tuesday.
While respondents’ lawyer, Damian Dodo, SAN, admitted serving Ihedioha’s lawyer the documents in the court, he objected to an adjournment. He was supported in his objection by counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) lawyer, Tanimu Inuwa.
But, the court saw wisdom in Agabi’s request and adjourned till March 3 for hearing.
