Bichi Emirate Council kingmaker, Isiyaku Umar Tofa, has urged custodians of traditional institutions in Nigeria to shun delving into the political space to enable them preserve the sanctity of the revered institution and enforce peace, law and order.
Alhaji Tofa, who doubles as the district head of Tofa in the newly created Bichi Emirate Council further appealed to traditional rulers to always be conscious of their role as fathers to all, stressing that they are expected to be non-partisan.
The traditional leader and elder statesman, during an exclusive interview with Judicial Sketch on Sunday at his Kano residence, noted that traditional leaders are not enthroned “to go about speaking.”
“Even if politicians drag them, they should resist such temptations because they are fathers to all,” Tofa stated.
Speaking on the emergence of His Royal Highness, Aminu Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano, Tofa appealed to the people of Kano to pray for his success while reigning on the throne.
“The new emir will not rush into making decisions, he will be quiet, he will conduct himself with decorum and will act decisively in the interest of justice,” Tofa noted.
