The labour umbrella platform, Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) Kano state chapter, on Tuesday lamented that the current figure of persons who have been inflicted by the deadly COVID-19 is alarming.
According to a press statement issued by the chairman of the state chapter of the council, Comrade Hashim Saleh, a copy of which was made available to Judicial Sketch on Tuesday, Saleh appealed to workers to comply with the stay away from work order issued by the state government.
Hashim who expressed shock over the rise in the number of suspected cases of COVID-19 currently recorded in Nigeria urged Nigerian workers to adhere to directives that were rolled out by the authorities with the aim to contain the spread of the ailment.
He assured that workers in the state will conform with the two weeks extension order given to workers by the state .
The labor leader further appealed to the workers to also to resort to seeking divine intervention to erode the pandemic.
Our correspondent reports that Kano state government on Monday extended by two weeks the stay away from work order in the state, effective from 7th April to 20th April, as parts of its strategy to shield the state and wage war against the ongoing spread of the virus into various parts across the country.
