Officials have stated that Kano State has concluded arrangements for the observance of this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, Judicial Sketch reports.
Our correspondent who investigated the level of preparedness at the prayer site reported that the banal Kofar Mata Eid prayer ground has undergone some face lift, and regulatory sanitary exercise has been conducted on the ground to create a suitable atmosphere for intending Eid worshippers.
The director operations, Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), Sha’ayau Abdulkadir Jubril, who supervised the three days sanitation exercise at the Kofar Mata Central Eid Ground on Thursday said the spiritual facility is set to host Kano Muslim faithful that would observe the end of Ramadan Islamic spiritual exercise at the ground.
He said the VIP section of the Eid ground has undergone some repais, explaining that the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero and other top government officials are expected to observe the Eid from the isolated section.
He said “we have sanitised inside the Eid ground, we have removed all the debris and the environmentally unfriendly materials inside the Kofar Mata Eid prayer ground. We have spend three days working on the ground, we have over 50 sanitations workers working on the Eid ground, we are supported by others who were directed by Sarkin Kofa of Kofar Mata to come and join us to do the job here, and today I can confidently say that the ground is ready for use and after the Eid prayers we are expected to mobilize our men back here to mop the place..”
Kano State Chief Sanitary Inspection Officer, Jafaru Gwarzo, who was also at the Eid ground to supervise sanitation works told Judicial Sketch that necessary sanitary measures have been adopted to ensure Kano Muslim worshippers enjoy a conducive atmosphere prior, during and after this year’s Eidul Fiti prayer session.
He warned prospective worshippers to return back to their homes after observing the Eid prayers, saying loitering or congregating around the Eid ground would not be allowed.

He said “we are happy Eid Fitri prayers will hold in Kano State governor, Abullahi Umar Gandjue has already released the guidelines. People should follow the guidelines. No roaming about in the state. We are working with other agencies to make sure we have a smooth Eid session. No crowding. If you pray, please immediately you finish, go home. We are vigilant and serious about the COVID-19 protocols.”
A Kano resident, Isa Mohammed, told Judicial Sketch that he rode on his bicycle from Gama Quarters to the Eid ground to confirm if the Sallah prayers will take place on the special ground.
He said “I came to verify what is happening here at Kofar Mata Eid prayer ground, I am so excited when I saw that the ground has been cleaned up. Some sections have been painted. I am excited and now confident that we are going to pray Eid.
Security operatives drawn from the Nigeria Police, KAROTA and HISBAH have been deployed to keep vigil in and around the Kofar Mata prayer ground.
