The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Dr Husaini Muhammad has disclosed that victims of sexual assault would continue to receive adequate medical care irrespective of the challenge posed by the COVID- 19 pandemic.
Hassan noted that the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at the hospital has remained operational, explaining that the medical services that are rendered at the centre have not been affected by the pandemic.
The CMD, while receiving Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) that were donated to the centre by Rule Of Law and Anti Corruption (ROLAC) on Thursday said the donated items were received at the appropriate period, adding that medical staff working at the special medical facility need to be adequately protected while rendering services to victims of sexual assault during the lockdown.
According to him, members of staff working at SARC would continue to attend to cases that are referred to the centre during the lockdown.
ROLAC said the donated items were meant to motivate the medical personnel working at the centre, according to its state administration and resource assistant, Jubrin Suleman, who handed over the materials to the centre.
