Chairmen of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs decided on Sunday on the best option to end the 2019/2020 season which has been hugely affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
The 20 NPFL club chairmen voted on the options available to them, deciding at the end of the day to end the 2019/2020 season with the three top clubs going to represent Nigeria at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions while there would be no promotion or relegation for the season.
A statement circulated by the executive secretary, Club Owners Association of Nigeria, Alloy Chukwuemeka, a copy of which Judicial Sketch obtained, said seventeen clubs voted in support of the decision while one, Rangers FC voted to go for Super 6 play-off after which the top three play-off clubs will go for CAF competitions.
He said Akwa United and Lobi Stars abstained from voting.
The seventeen clubs that voted for the season to end as it is included Kwara United, Kano Pillars, Katsina United, Jigawa Golden Stars, Adamawa United, Wikki Tourist, MFM, Sunshine Stars and Enyimba FC.
Othres are Warri Wolves, Abia Warriors, Nasarawa United, IFEANYIUBAH, Dakada Intl, Heartland, Rivers United and Plateau United.
