The Police Service Commission (PSC) has confirmed the elevation of 6,618 Nigeria police officers from their current serving ranks to higher ranks.
The commission in a statement issued Friday afternoon, disclosed that one AIG has been promoted to the new rank of police DIG.
The statement signed by the head of press and public relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, stated that 5, 786 inspectors were promoted to the new rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Ani added that four commissioners of police would now hang the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, further revealing that three deputy commissioner of police would now serve as commissioners of police.
According to him, the promotion exercise was approved at the 8th plenary meeting session of the commission, adding that the meeting was presided over by the chairman of the commission, IGP Musliu Smith (rtd).
