The people of Kano South senatorial district have decried their outright neglect by their senatorial representative amidst the sufferings caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Residents in the senatorial zone who spoke with Judicial Sketch lamented that the distinguish senator representing the senatorial district has not brought succor through palliative measures to the people in the area, as the state continue to battle with the pandemic.
A resident in Kano South said “Since the beginning of the COVID-19, we have not seen our senator, Kabiru Gaya, despite the fact that we hear other people in other senatorial zones have received palliative from their senators”.
The constituents cried out that COVID-19 has inflicted poverty on the people of Kano South, adding that they have been further impoverished due to lack of intervention during the pandemic.
A native of one of the communities in the senatorial district said “so far, we have only received palliatives from Kano state government but it is not enough. We heard that senators in other parts of the state are giving assistance to their constituency but for us in Kano South, the case is different.
Our investigations revealed that the Senator representing Kano South, Kabiru Gaya has not been sighted at major COVID-19 related activities that were staged in the fight against the dreaded ailment either by the state government or other frontline organizations.
All efforts to speak to Senator Kabiru Gaya or his top aides proved abortive, their mobile phones were allegedly switched off.
