Over 2000 women in Kano have been tutored by Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) on the tricks of house gardening and usage of immediate available food items to boost nutritional values.
The secretary, CS-SUNN Kano state chapter, Ahmad Tijjani Yau, disclosed that in the past nine months, food demonstration were conducted at major primary health facilities in the state.
According to him, pregnant mothers were empowered with depth knowledge on nutrition, adding that sanitation and hygiene were part of the knowledge that were impacted on the participants during the period under review.
Yau who spoke on Tuesday during a food demonstration held at an Ante Natal Clinic held at Gwagwarwa Primary Health Care Centre said that community nutrition education sessions were also conducted during Post Ante Natal Clinic(PNC) sessions across the state.
He disclosed that town hall meetings were also conducted in communities located in Nassarawa, Fagge, Kano Municipal and Gezawa local government areas..
